Yes. You'll need to have completed the 30-hour classroom course and hold your Massachusetts learner's permit before starting your observation hours, since observation lessons are part of the required behind-the-wheel training that follows the classroom portion.

All our lessons begin and end at a local AAA branch location.

Once your 6 observation hours are complete, you can move on to your 12 hours of RMV-required behind-the-wheel instruction with a certified AAA instructor, alongside your 40 hours of supervised practice with a parent or guardian.

AAA recommends completing your observation hours early in the process, though you can begin booking your behind-the-wheel lessons as you work through them. Contact the call center at (855)222-1050 if you'd like help planning your schedule.
